The S.T.A.R. Forum “Challenge vs. Opportunity: GenZ in the Labour Market?” was held today, December 3, 2024, at the venue of the Cineplexx Cinema.”

The Forum gathered local and regional experts in career development and youth employment to discuss innovative ideas for youth development and employment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The event was devoted to the role of Generation Z, the “first digital generation” in the labour market, as well as the challenges and peculiarities which this generation brings to the labour market.

The Forum was organized by the Social Innovation Incubator MUNJA, with the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina being one of its partners.

During the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and non-governmental organisations aimed at joint action towards enhancing the employability of vulnerable groups in the labour market.  The Memorandum was signed by Director Ivan Barbalić on behalf of the Agency and representatives of more than twelve NGOs.

On that occasion, Director Barbalić emphasised that “the cooperation and dialogue with NGOs as social partners is a huge opportunity for improving the conditions in the labour market, particularly for vulnerable groups (youth, women and Roma), and for the integration of foreign workers into local communities. On the other hand, through this cooperation, the civil sector obtains an opportunity of institutional cooperation and the possibility to participate in the development of labour market policies. “

Barbalić further emphasized that “through its Western Balkans Follow-up Committee, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) welcomed this cooperation and the signing of the Memorandum in its latest report submitted to the members of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union.  EESC also underlined that social dialogue is one of the binding components in the EU accession process”.

The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and non-governmental organisations remains open for signing to other non-governmental organisations that were unable to attend the S.T.A.R. Forum today.
