On Sunday, 06 April 2014, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija, signed the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State of Qatar on Regulation of Employment of Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the State of Qatar. The Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Adnan Delić, was also a member of the high-level delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina accompanying the Minister.
The Employment Agreement with the State of Qatar is an open door for workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina to take employment in the State of Qatar in accordance with job offers and labour demand in this country. The encouraging fact is that according to estimates of the Ministry of Labour of the State of Qatar, the country will need 500,000 additional workers by 2016 and we hope that citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will find their place in the Qatari labour market accordingly. The Labour and Employment Agency of BiH is optimistic that workers with all qualification levels will be sought under this Agreement and that it will also lead to an increased engagement of BiH companies in the State of Qatar, in particular in infrastructure projects.
The Agreement provides for employment of workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina for a period of one year with possibility of contract extension. Under this Agreement, workers from BiH are guaranteed salary, severance pay, transfer from and to BiH, paid return ticket during vacation, health services and accommodation.
Authorities responsible for the implementation of the Agreement are the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Qatari Ministry of Labour in the State of Qatar.
The Agreement will enter into force after undergoing ratification procedures in both countries.
