Call For Student Applications For Summer Jobs In The Federal Republic Of Germany In 2014 

The Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the International Placement Services (ZAV) of the Federal Employment Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany, organizes each year the Student Summer Job Programme during summer vacation.  The Programme is intended for full-time students enrolled at universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  In accordance with the arrangement between the above partner organisations, the approved quota for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2014 is 150 students, out of which 95 places are reserved for students enrolled at universities in the Federation of BiH, 45 places for students of universities in Republika Srpska and 10 places for students enrolled at the university in the Brčko District of BiH.

Eligibility requirements

The right to apply is limited to full-time students enrolled in:

a)      the first, second and third year of studies of the four-year study programme,

b)      the first and the second year of studies of the three-year study programme,

c)      the first year of the second cycle study programme (if the overall duration is two years) and

d)     the first year of two-year post secondary school.

  • Students may not be younger than 18 and not older than 35
  • They must have excellent to very good German language skills (at least 3 years’ previous German learning experience).
  • Students with work experience will have an advantage.
  • Students who specify to have the driver's licence must be able to drive the corresponding vehicle. 
  • Students must be willing to work for at least two months in Germany (the maximum employment period is three months).
  • Students must be flexible, mobile and ready to work anywhere in Germany.
  • Students requesting to work in a specific town or region will not be taken in consideration.

Application procedure

Students who meet the above requirements must submit the APPLICATION FORM and certificate of enrolment either in person or by registered mail in the following way: 

§  students of universities in the Federation of BiH can apply in the Cantonal Employment Office responsible for the region of the respective university head office,

§  students of universities in Republika Srpska can apply in the Regional Office of the RS Employment Service responsible for the region of the respective university head office,

§  students of the university in the Brčko District of BiH can apply in the Employment Service of the Brčko District of BiH.

The application deadline is Thursday, 12 December 2013. 

Applicants will subsequently have to take a German language test, which will take place on 27, 28 and 29 December 2013 in the premises of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH.   The exact test date and time by groups will be published at www.arz.gov.ba. Personal identification card and student log-book are to be presented before taking the test.

Note: Applicants from earlier years are also obliged to take the language test. 

The German test will cover the following skills:

  • reading skills,
  • writing skills,
  • listening comprehension skills and
  • conversation skills 

Students who have already arranged a summer job for the next summer vacation with an employer in Germany may not apply under this Programme.  In such cases (named requests), employer submits the application directly to the International Placement Services (ZAV) in Bonn.
