Director Bandić: We are working on creating seasonal employment opportunities for our workers in the Republic of Austria



A delegation of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH, led by Mr. Muamer Bandić, Director of the Agency, is currently paying an official visit to the Republic of Austria. The aim of the visit is to talk with the representative of the Austrian employment Service (AMS) on possibilities of seasonal employment of workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Republic of Austria. In accordance with its competence, the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH has initiated talks on this topic and if common interests are reached, this initiative will be submitted to the Council of Ministers of BiH with the purpose of negotiating an agreement on seasonal employment between the two countries.  

The Republic of Austria has been facing skills shortages in recent years, in particular during winter tourist season which could be an opportunity for placing workers from our country in seasonal jobs. 

After the negotiation and entering into force of such an agreement, this form of cooperation between the two state institutions would guarantee to our workers equal rights to those enjoyed by the domestic workforce in Austria and a recruitment that is conducted in a legal and regulated manner.  The agreement would also provide for the monitoring of the outbound migration of our workers from BiH to Austria as well as their return to our country while safeguarding all their rights exercised on the basis of their unemployment status upon their return to the country.
