Changes in employment conditions for nurses in Germany



The Labour and Employment Agency of BiH hereby informs all interested applicants applying for nursing jobs in Germany at the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH that the German side has made changes in the rules of practice and the requirements to be met by applicants in the placement procedure.  These changes apply to the recognition of diplomas obtained through retraining and German language skills certificates.

“On the basis of a decision made by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the diplomas for completed medical secondary education for general nurses and paediatric nurses obtained through retraining either in a state or a private school are no longer accepted.  This is why we draw attention of the applicants applying for nursing jobs in Germany at the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH that as of February 2019 the International and Specialized Services (ZAV) has started to issue denials to all applicants with such diplomas and it is no longer possible to take employment in nursing jobs with diplomas obtained through retraining.  In addition to relevant diplomas, applicants are also advised to support their applications with certificates of completion for each school year of secondary education translated into German”, said Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH, Muamer Bandić.  

“As regards the German language skills certificates, as we have already notified the general public, the ÖSD language certificates will not be acceptable as of 1st June 2019 until further notice in the process of issuing work visas for Germany at the German Embassy to BiH if the relevant exam was passed outside the Republic of Austria.  The said date refers to the date of applying for a work visa at the German Embassy and not the date of issuing the language certificate.  Consequently, all applicants who submit their applications to the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH after 1^st April 2019 must support their applications with a German language skills certificate that complies with the requirements of the German Embassy to BiH”, said Director Bandić.
