The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 July 2021 was 395 383. As compared to a month earlier, this number was higher by 1 602 persons or 0.41%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 227 778 or 57.61% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 30 869 persons or 7.24%.

Unemployment increased in Federation of BiH by 2 185 persons (0.7%), but decreased in Republika Srpska by 573 persons (0.76%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 10 persons (0.15%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 July 2021:

105 526 unskilled workers or 26.69%, of whom 61 983 (27.21%) women;

6 366 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.61%, of whom 3 251 (1.43%) women;

124 291 skilled workers or 31.44%, of whom 58 541 (25,70%) women;

1 363 highly skilled workers or 0.34%, of whom 253 (0.11%) women;

113 949 with secondary education or 28.82%, of whom 72 638 (31.89%) women;

7 078 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.79%, of whom 4 672 (2.05%) women;

36 810 with university degree or 9.31%, of whom 26 440 (11.61%) women.

A total of 14 769 people were deregistered from public employment services in July, of whom 6 996 were women. Out of this number, there were 10 122 flows into employment, of which 4 808 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 10 598 people, of whom 5 852 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 4 037 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in June 2021 stood at 820 979, of whom 356 149 were women.  In comparison to May 2021, the number of people in employment increased by 0.5% and the number of employed women increased by 0.7%.

Registered unemployment rate for June 2021 was 32.4% and was 0.2 percentage point lower than in May 2021.
