The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 March 2020 was 398 504. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 4 384 persons or 1.09%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 227 106 or 56.99% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 24 915 persons or 5.88%.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 1 807 persons (0.59%), in Republika Srpska by 2 503 persons (2.87%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 74 persons (1.1%).

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 March 2020:

109 972 unskilled workers or 27.60%, of whom 64 140 (28.24%) women;

7 096 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.78%, of whom 3 570 (1.58%) women;

126 057 skilled workers or 31.63%, of whom 58 708 (25.85%) women;

1 561 highly skilled workers or 0.39%, of whom 266 (0.12%) women;

113 220 with secondary education or 28.41%, of whom 72 322 (31.85%) women;

6 634 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.66%, of whom 4 251 (1.87%) women;

33 964 with university degree or 8.52%, of whom 23 849 (10.50%) women.

A total of 15 996 people were deregistered from public employment services, of whom 7 494 were women. Out of this number, there were 10 299 flows into employment, of which 4 760 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 8 565 people, of whom 4 760 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 2 873 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in February 2020 stood at 832 200, of whom 360 918 were women.  In comparison to January 2020, the number of people in employment fell by 0.2% and the number of employed women fell by 0.1%.

Registered unemployment rate for February 2020 was 32.6% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to January 2020.
