The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 March 2021 was 406 718. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 4 058 persons or 0.99%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 232 250 or 57.10% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was higher by 8 214 persons or 2.06%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 3 020 persons (0.94%), in Republika Srpska by 931 persons (1.14%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 107 persons (1.5%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 March 2021:

109 108 unskilled workers or 26.83%, of whom 63 655 (27.41%) women;

6 760 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.66%, of whom 3 421 (1.47%) women;

129 243 skilled workers or 31.78%, of whom 60 460 (26.03%) women;

1 463 highly skilled workers or 0.36%, of whom 269 (0.12%) women;

116 949 with secondary education or 28.75%, of whom 74 459 (32.06%) women;

7 083 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.74%, of whom 4 568 (1.97%) women;

36 112 with university degree or 8.88%, of whom 25 418 (10.94%) women.

A total of 17 876 people were deregistered from public employment services in March, of whom 8 221 were women. Out of this number, there were 11 455 flows into employment, of which 5 164 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 9 934 people, of whom 4 619 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 3 346 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in February 2021 stood at 808 884, of whom 349 448 were women.  In comparison to January 2021, the number of people in employment decreased by 0.1% and the number of employed women decreased by 0.1%.

Registered unemployment rate for February 2021 was 33.7% and was 0.2 percentage point lower than in January 2021.
