Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivan Barbalić and his Deputy Suzana Radniković met with the RS Minister of Labour and War Veterans Daniel Ergić on 18th March 2024 in Banja Luka to discuss the current labour market developments and the major activities of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina related to the implementation of employment agreements signed with other countries, the possibilities of data exchange on the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina working abroad, the process of labour market research and identification of shortage occupations at the levels on Bosnia and Herzegovina and its Entities and in the Brčko District of BiH.  The management of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH expressed their appreciation for the correct previous cooperation and the work of the Ministry’s representative Miroslav Bekan in the Agency’s Advisory Board and said they hoped the cooperation would continue in the future.

On the same day, the representatives of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH met with representatives of the RS Union of Employers headed by Saša Ačić, Director General. Their discussion focused on the cooperation of the two institutions and the work of the Advisory Board of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH of which Mr. Ačić is a member. The Agency’s representatives informed the attendees that the work on the White Paper had begun.  It was noted that the preparation of the White Paper on the problems occurring in the process of employment of foreigners in Bosnia and Herzegovina was the initial step in the process of changing regulatory and other procedures towards simplified recruitment of foreign workers.  Mr. Ačić underlined that some sectors were already suffering from labour shortages which could be a problem for employers in planning their future activities.  According to the RS Union of Employers, this is why the quota system for employment of foreigners in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska should be either abolished or eased.
