Major Trends in the Labour Market in the Previous Twelve Months

In the first five months of 2014 the labour market in BiH was characterized by a drop of unemployment by 8,887 persons. In this period there were 38,224 outflows from unemployment registers into employment and 14,480 vacancy announcements were posted by employers. In the same period employment terminated for 39,163 persons on different grounds (retirement, breach of work duties, insolvency or winding-up, dismissal, death, etc.).
In the first five months of 2014 there were 14,074 recipients of unemployment cash benefit on monthly average.
In the period 31 May 2013 – 31 May 2014 the total unemployment in BiH dropped by 0.5%. In this period there were 100,058 outflows from unemployment registers into employment which is an increase of 9,023 persons compared with the same period one year earlier. Out of the total number of persons who took employment, 67,560 were in the Federation of BiH, 31,072 in the RS and 3,782 in the Brčko District of BiH.
At the same time, employment terminated for 105,400 persons on different grounds (retirement, breach of work duties, insolvency or winding-up, dismissal, death, etc.) which is an increase of 79 persons compared with the same period one year earlier. Out of the total number of persons whose employment terminated, 62,136 were in the Federation of BiH, 41,963 in Republika Srpska and 1,301 in the Brčko District of BiH.
Over the previous 12 months employers announced 37,384 job vacancies.
In the mentioned period there were 15,103 recipients of unemployment cash benefit on monthly average.
