The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 August 2017 amounted to 485,088. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 1,221 persons or 0.25%.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 78 persons (0.02%) in Republika Srpska by 1,076 persons (0.90%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 67 persons (0.60%).

The structure of job seekers as of 31 August 2017 by educational level was as follows:

130,730 unskilled workers (26.95%),

8,182 semi-skilled workers (1.69%),

158,420 skilled workers (32.66%),

2,360 highly skilled workers (0.49%),

1,235 workers with primary education (0.25%),

134,383 persons with secondary education (27.70%),

7,152 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.47%) and

42,626 persons with university education (8.79%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.66%) and workers with secondary education (27.70%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in August amounted to 18,035 persons, out of which 11,125 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 8,963 persons whose employment terminated and 5,060 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 748,181 in July 2017, out of which 311,349 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.1% from June 2017.

Registered unemployment rate in July 2017 was 39,4% and it is the same as in June 2017.
