Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 January 2017

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 January 2017 amounted to 511,922. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 1,900 persons or 0.37%.
Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 1.358 persons (0.36%), in Republika Srpska by 466 persons (0.37%), and in Brčko District of BiH by 76 persons (0.64%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 January 2017 by educational level was as follows:
137,469 unskilled workers (26.85%),
8,788 semi-skilled workers (1.72%),
169,970 skilled workers (33.20%),
2,541 highly skilled workers (0.50%),
1,355 workers with primary education (0.26%),
142,692 persons with secondary education (27.87%),
7,228 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.41%) and
41,879 persons with university education (8.18%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.20%) and workers with secondary education (27.87%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in January amounted to 14,310 persons, out of which 8,243 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 9,261 persons whose employment terminated and 3,370 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 737,954 in December 2016, out of which 305,448 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was decreased by 0.1% from November 2016.
Registered unemployment rate in December 2016 was 40.9%. As compared to November 2016 it was same.
