Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 January 2018

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 January 2018 amounted to 475,541. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 457 persons or 0.10%.
Unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 7 persons (0.01%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 54 persons (0.49%), but was increased in Federation of BiH by 518 persons (0.15%)
The structure of job seekers as of 31 January 2018 by educational level was as follows:
129,199 unskilled workers (27.17%),
7,996 semi-skilled workers (1.68%),
155,497 skilled workers (32.70%),
2,235 highly skilled workers (0.47%),
1,198 workers with primary education (0.25%),
133,019 persons with secondary education (27.97%),
6,884 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.45%) and
39,513 persons with university education (8.31%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.70%) and workers with secondary education (27.97%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in January amounted to 16,252 persons, out of which 9,645 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 9,648 persons whose employment terminated and 5,612 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 753,202 in December 2017, out of which 315,514 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.1% from November 2017.
Registered unemployment rate in December 2017 was 38,7%. As compared to November 2017 it was increased by 0.1%.
