Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 October 2016

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 October 2016 amounted to 512,496. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 2,439 persons or 0.47%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 843 persons (0.23%) in Republika Srpska by 1,555 persons (1.21%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 41 persons (0.34%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 May 2016 by educational level was as follows:
137,336 unskilled workers (26.80%),
8,795 semi-skilled workers (1.72%),
169,929 skilled workers (33.16%),
2,553 highly skilled workers (0.50%),
1,379 workers with primary education (0.27%),
144,193 persons with secondary education (28.14%),
7,078 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.38%) and
41,233 persons with university education (8.05%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.16%) and workers with secondary education (26.80%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in October amounted to 19,043 persons, out of which 11,593 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 7,277 persons whose employment terminated and 4,747 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 733,261 in September 2016, out of which 302,029 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.8% from August 2016.
Registered unemployment rate in September 2016 was 41.2% which is a drop of 0.5 percentage point in comparison to August 2016.
