Overview of Labour Market Situation On 31 August 2015

On 31 August 2015 540,886 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 2,050 persons or 0.38%.
Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 163 persons (0.04%) and in Republika Srpska by 1,913 persons (1.37%) and was increased in Brčko District BiH by 26 persons (0.22%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 August 2015 there were 143,665 unskilled workers or 26.56%, 9,601 semi-skilled workers or 1.78%, 182,640 skilled workers or 33.77%, 2,985 highly skilled workers or 0.55%, 1,053 workers with primary education or 0.28%, 148,049 with secondary education or 27.37%, 7,618 with higher non-university education or 1.41% and 44,825 with university education or 8.29%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 33.77% and workers with secondary education 27.37%.
The total outflow from PES registers in August amounted to 17,653 persons, out of which 9,202 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 7.504 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 4,428 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in July 2015 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 714,003 persons, out of which 294,435 were women. As compared to June 2015, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.1%.
Registered unemployment rate in July 2015 was 43.2%. As compared to june 2015 it was increased by 0.2 percentage points.
