On 30 September 2012 545,520 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 361 persons or 0.07%.

Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 449 persons (0.12%), was increased in the Republika Srpska by 62 persons (0.04%) and in Brčko District BiH by 26 persons (0.21%)

In occupational structure of job seekers as on 30 September 2012 there were 160,402 unskilled workers or 29.40%, 11,142 semi-skilled workers or 2.04%, 189,755 skilled workers or 34.78%, 3,736 highly skilled workers or 0.68%, 1,840 workers with primary education or 0.34%, 138,758 with secondary education or 25.44%, 7,493 with higher non-university education or 1.37% and 32,394 with university education or 5.94%.

The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.78% and unskilled workers with 29.40%.

The total outflow from PES registers in September amounted to 14,697 persons, out of which 8,932 persons were employed.

At the same time, there were 5, 643 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 3,014 vacancies in this period.

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in August 2012 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 686,986 persons, out of which 280,155 were women. As compared to July 2012, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.3%.

Registered unemployment rate in August 2012 was 44.3%. As compared to July 2012 it was increased by 0.4 percentage points.
