Labour market overview, situation as of 28 February 2022

The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 28 February 2022 was 375 689. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 1 437 persons or 0.38%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 215 689 or 57.41% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 35 087 persons or 8.54%.
Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 2 332 persons (0.78%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 187 (3.1%), but increased in Republika Srpska by 1 082 persons (1.53%).
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 28 February 2022:
102 058 unskilled workers or 27.17%, of whom 59 602 (27.63%) women;
6 041 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.61%, of whom 3 061 (1.42%) women;
118 880 skilled workers or 31.64%, of whom 55 965 (25,95%) women;
1 181 highly skilled workers or 0.31%, of whom 214 (0.10%) women;
107 749 with secondary education or 28.68%, of whom 69 039 (32.01%) women;
6 511 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.73%, of whom 4 263 (1.98%) women;
33 269 with university degree or 8.86%, of whom 23 545 (10.92%) women.
A total of 18 352 people were deregistered from public employment services in February, of whom 8 750 were women. Out of this number, there were 8 424 flows into employment, of which 4 363 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 9 290 people, of whom 4 131 were women. In the same period, employers reported 4 655 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in January 2022 stood at 838 688, of whom 370 274 were women. In comparison to December 2021, the number of people in employment was increased by 0.5% and the number of employed women increased by 1.2%.
Registered unemployment rate for January 2022 was 31.0% and was same than in December 2021.
