Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 28 February 2017

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 28 February 2017 amounted to 509,907. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 1,664 persons or 0.33%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 1,299 persons (0.35%) in Republika Srpska by 277 persons (0.22%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 88 persons (0.73%).
The structure of job seekers as of 28 February 2017 by educational level was as follows:
137,147 unskilled workers (26.90%),
8,702 semi-skilled workers (1.71%),
169,785 skilled workers (33.30%),
2,550 highly skilled workers (0.50%),
1,345 workers with primary education (0.26%),
142,162 persons with secondary education (27.88%),
7,153 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.40%) and
41,063 persons with university education (8.05%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.30%) and workers with secondary education (27.88%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in February amounted to 15,637 persons, out of which 9,368 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 6,789 persons whose employment terminated and 3,328 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 749,566 in January 2017, out of which 310,828 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 1.6% from December 2016.
Registered unemployment rate in January 2017 was 40.6% which is a drop of 0.3 percentage point in comparison to December 2016.
