The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 28 February 2018 amounted to 472,957. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 2,584 persons or 0.54%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 1,578 persons (0.45%), in Republika Srpska by 928 persons (0.81%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 78 persons (0.71%).

The structure of job seekers as of 28 February 2018 by educational level was as follows:

128,940 unskilled workers (27.26%),

7,950 semi-skilled workers (1.68%),

154,802 skilled workers (32.73%),

2,209 highly skilled workers (0.47%),

1,194 workers with primary education (0.25%),

132,212 persons with secondary education (27.95%),

6,829 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.44%) and

38,821 persons with university education (8.21%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.73%) and workers with secondary education (27.95%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in February amounted to 13,594 persons, out of which 9,998 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 7,290 persons whose employment terminated and 5,211 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 790,943 in January 2018, out of which 333,306 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was decreased by 0.2% from December 2017.

Registered unemployment rate in January 2018 was 37,5% and it is the same as in December 2017.
