The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 April 2022 was 365 878. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 6 104 persons or 1.64%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 211 038 or 57.68% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 36 268 persons or 9.02%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 4 470 persons (1.51%), in Republika Srpska by 1 437 persons (2.02%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 197 (3.49%).

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 April 2022:

100 720 unskilled workers or 27.53%, of whom 59 183 (28.04%) women;

5 871 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.60%, of whom 2 988 (1.42%) women;

115 470 skilled workers or 31.56%, of whom 54 749 (25,94%) women;

1 162 highly skilled workers or 0.32%, of whom 210 (0.10%) women;

104 294 with secondary education or 28.51%, of whom 67 139 (31.81%) women;

6 172 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.69%, of whom 4 027 (1.91%) women;

32 189 with university degree or 8.83%, of whom 22 742 (10.78 %) women.

A total of 21 616 people were deregistered from public employment services in April, of whom 9 983 were women. Out of this number, there were 10 618 flows into employment, of which 5 433 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 8 498 people, of whom 4 032 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 7 651 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in March 2022 stood at 841 392, of whom 373 370 were women.  In comparison to February 2022, the number of people in employment was increased by 0.2% and the number of employed women increased by 0.5%.

Registered unemployment rate for March 2022 was 30.7% and was 0.2 percentage point lower than in

February 2022.
