On 30 April 2012 540,335 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 2,391 persons or 0.44%.

Unemployment has increased in Brčko District BiH by 140 persons (1.13%), but unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 1,120 persons (0.3%) and in the Republika Srpska by 1,411  persons (0.91%).

In occupational structure of job seekers as on 30 april 2012 there were 162,091  unskilled workers or 30.00%, 11,395 semi-skilled workers or 2.11%, 188,079 skilled workers or 34.81%, 3,891 highly skilled workers or 0.72%, 1,900 workers with primary education or 0.35%, 135,250 with secondary education or 25.03%, 7,503 with higher non-university education or 1.39% and 30,227 with university education or 5.59%.

The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.81% and unskilled workers with 30.00%.

The total outflow from PES registers in april amounted to 13,267 persons, out of which 8,107 persons were employed.

At the same time, there were 4,739 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,488 vacancies in this period.

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in March 2012 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 688,702 persons, out of which 282,403 were women. As compared to February 2012, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.2%.

Registered unemployment rate in March 2012 was 44.1%. As compared to February 2012 it was down by 0.1 percentage points.
