Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 30 June 2019

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 30 June 2019 amounted to 405,476. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 1,209 persons or 0.3%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 164 persons (0.05%), in Republika Srpska by 907 persons (1.01%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 138 persons (1.77%).
The structure of job seekers as of 30 June 2019 by educational level was as follows:
113,165 unskilled workers (27.91%),
7,553 semi-skilled workers and workers with primary education (1.86%),
128,905 skilled workers (31.79%),
1,661 highly skilled workers (0.41%),
114,441 persons with secondary education (28.22%),
6,151 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.52%) and
33,600 persons with university education (8.29%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (31.79%) and workers with secondary education (28.22%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in June amounted to 17,313 persons, out of which 11,093 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 6,518 persons whose employment terminated and 3.106 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 829,477 in May 2019, out of which 357,424 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.3% from April.
Registered unemployment rate in May 2019 was 32.9% which is a drop of 0.4 percentage point in comparison to April.
