Labour market overview, situation as of 30 November 2020

The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 November 2020 was 413 254. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 1 148 persons or 0.28%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 235 633 or 57.02% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was higher by 11 895 persons or 2.96%.
Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 588 persons (0.18%), in Republika Srpska by 535 persons (0.64%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 25 persons (0.35%)
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 November 2020:
110 047 unskilled workers or 26.63%, of whom 64 439 (27.35%) women;
6 900 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.67%, of whom 3 399 (1.49%) women;
130 937 skilled workers or 31.68%, of whom 60 977 (25.88%) women;
1 512 highly skilled workers or 0.37%, of whom 276 (0.12%) women;
119 907 with secondary education or 29.02%, of whom 75 965 (32.24%) women;
6 981 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.69%, of whom 4 496 (1.91%) women;
36 970 with university degree or 8.95%, of whom 25 979 (11.03%) women.
A total of 13 687 people were deregistered from public employment services in November, of whom 6 918 were women. Out of this number, there were 9 332 flows into employment, of which 4 810 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 4 628 people, of whom 2 303 were women. In the same period, employers reported 2 293 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in October 2020 stood at 807 985, of whom 348 572 were women. In comparison to September 2020, the number of people in employment increased by 0.2% and the number of employed women increased by 0.4%.
Registered unemployment rate for October 2020 was 33.9% and was 0.2 percentage point lower than in September 2020.
