The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 November 2023 was 344 666. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 1 385 persons or 0.40%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 201 579 or 58.49% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 10 034 persons or 2.83%.
Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 829 persons (0.30%), in Republika Srpska by 500 persons (0.84%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 56 persons (0.43%).
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 November 2023:
100 148 unskilled workers or 29.06%, of whom 59 824 (29.68%) women;
5 181 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.50%, of whom 2 705 (1.34%) women;
107 939 skilled workers or 31.32%, of whom 52 083 (25.84%) women;
882 highly skilled workers or 0.26%, of whom 184 (0.09%) women;
97 294 with secondary education or 28.23%, of whom 63 511 (31.51%) women;
5 371 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.56%, of whom 3 539 (1.76%) women;
27 851 with university degree or 8.08%, of whom 19 733 (9.79%) women.
A total of 19 633 people were deregistered from public employment services in November, of whom 9 631 were women. Out of this number, there were 7 542 flows into employment, of which 4 038 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 9 340 people, of whom 4 715 were women. In the same period, employers reported 3 243 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in October 2023 stood at 853 264, of whom 385 161 were women. In comparison to September 2023, the number of people in employment was the same and the number of employed women increased by 0.1%.
Registered unemployment rate for October 2023 was 28.8% and was 0.1 percentage point lower than in September 2023.
