Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 August 2018

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 30 September 2018 amounted to 441,672. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 6,906 persons or 1.54%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 3,736 persons (1.12%), in Republika Srpska by 3,041 persons (2.92%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 129 persons (1.26%).
The structure of job seekers as of 30 September 2018 by educational level was as follows:
120,638 unskilled workers (27.31%),
7,385 semi-skilled workers (1.67%),
142,183 skilled workers (32.19%),
1,957 highly skilled workers (0.44%),
1,088 workers with primary education (0.25%),
125,499 persons with secondary education (28.41%),
6,488 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.47%) and
36,434 persons with university education (8.25%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.19%) and workers with secondary education (28.41%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in September amounted to 16,626 persons, out of which 15,963 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 7,910 persons whose employment terminated and 6,794 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 801,293 in August 2018, out of which 338,827 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.5% from July 2018.
The registered unemployment rate in August 2018 was 35.9% and it is the same as in July 2018.
