The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 September 2021 was 384 209. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 8 342 persons or 2.13%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 220 949 or 57.51% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 33 750 persons or 8.08%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 6 623 persons (2.12%), in Republika Srpska by 1 673 persons (2.26%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 46 persons (0.7%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 September 2021:

103 625 unskilled workers or 26.97%, of whom 60 906 (27.57%) women;

6 169 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.61%, of whom 3 146 (1.42%) women;

121 615 skilled workers or 31.65%, of whom 57 373 (25,97%) women;

1 295 highly skilled workers or 0.34%, of whom 237 (0.11%) women;

111 361 with secondary education or 28.98%, of whom 71 190 (32.22%) women;

6 666 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.73%, of whom 4 372 (1.98%) women;

33 478 with university degree or 8.71%, of whom 23 725 (10.74%) women.

A total of 26 201 people were deregistered from public employment services in September, of whom 14 047 were women. Out of this number, there were 13 709 flows into employment, of which 8 413 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 9 128 people, of whom 4 533 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 3 197 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in August 2021 stood at 818 459, of whom 354 360 were women.  In comparison to July 2021, the number of people in employment decreased by 0.2% and the number of employed women decreased by 0.2%.

Registered unemployment rate for August 2021 was 32.4% and was 0.1 percentage point higher than in July 2021.
