Overview of labour market situation on 30 September 2013

On 30 September 2013 555,087 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 733 persons or 0.13%.
Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 952 persons (0.24%) and in the Republika Srpska by 14 persons (0.1%), but was increased in the Brčko District BiH by 233 persons (1.88%)
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 30 September 2013 there were 156,013 unskilled workers or 28.11%, 10,805 semi-skilled workers or 1.95%, 191,798 skilled workers or 34.55%, 3,645 highly skilled workers or 0.66%, 1,698 workers with primary education or 0.31%, 145.024 with secondary education or 26.13%, 7,751 with higher non-university education or 1.40% and 38,353 with university education or 6.91%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.55% and unskilled workers with 28.11%.
The total outflow from PES registers in September amounted to 16,473 persons, out of which 9,787 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 6,006 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 3,794 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in August 2013 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 683,339 persons, out of which 279,722 were women. As compared to July 2013, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.4%.
Registered unemployment rate in August 2013 was 44.9%.
