The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 September 2020 was 417 957. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 9,636 persons or 2.25%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 238 212 or 56.99% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was higher by 14 682 persons or 3.62%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 5 149 persons (1.56%) and in Republika Srpska by 4 552 persons (5.07%), but increased in the Brčko District of BiH by 65 persons (0.92%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 September 2020:

110 413 unskilled workers or 26.42%, of whom 64 783 (27.20%) women;

6 992 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.67%, of whom 3 544 (1.49%) women;

132 586 skilled workers or 31.72%, of whom 61 684 (25.89%) women;

1 530 highly skilled workers or 0.37%, of whom 271 (0.11%) women;

122 432 with secondary education or 29.29%, of whom 77 410 (32.5%) women;

6 907 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.65%, of whom 4 469 (1.88%) women;

37 097 with university degree or 8.88%, of whom 26 051 (10.94%) women.

A total of 30 965 people were deregistered from public employment services in September, of whom 16 125 were women. Out of this number, there were 15 082 flows into employment, of which 8 777 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 11 512 people, of whom 5 457 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 8 948 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in August 2020 stood at 799 207, of whom 341 927 were women.  In comparison to July 2020, the number of people in employment decreased by 0.5% and the number of employed women decreased by 0.8%.

Registered unemployment rate for August 2020 was 34.8% and was 0.1 percentage point higher than in July 2020.
