Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 30 April 2017

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 30 April 2017 amounted to 495,405. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 6,117 persons or 1.22%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 4.448 persons (1.22%) in Republika Srpska by 1,389 persons (1.12%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 280 persons (2.39%).
The structure of job seekers as of 30 April 2017 by educational level was as follows:
134,695 unskilled workers (27.99%),
8,486 semi-skilled workers (1.71%),
163,948 skilled workers (33.09%),
2,462 highly skilled workers (0.50%),
1,322 workers with primary education (0.27%),
137,808 persons with secondary education (27.82%),
6,988 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.41%) and
39,696 persons with university education (8.01%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.09%) and workers with secondary education (27.82%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in April amounted to 18,094 persons, out of which 11,911 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 6,155 persons whose employment terminated and 6,293 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 750,543 in March 2017, out of which 315,124 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.4% from February 2017.
Registered unemployment rate in March 2017 was 40.1% which is a drop of 0.4 percentage point in comparison to February 2017.
