Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 30 April 2019

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 30 April 2019 amounted to 413,826. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 9,490 persons or 2.24%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 7,549 persons (2.35%), in Republika Srpska by 1,730 persons (1.85%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 314 persons (3.72%).
The structure of job seekers as of 30 April 2019 by educational level was as follows:
115,404 unskilled workers (27.89%),
7,769 semi-skilled workers and workers with primary education (1.88%),
132,118 skilled workers (31.93%),
1,727 highly skilled workers (0.42%),
116,048 persons with secondary education (28.04%),
6,253 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.51%) and
34,507 persons with university education (8.34%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (31.93%) and workers with secondary education (28.04%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in April amounted to 23,344 persons, out of which 15,695 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 7,698 persons whose employment terminated and 8,883 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 822,275 in March 2019, out of which 353,491 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.3% from February.
Registered unemployment rate in March 2019 was 34.0% which is a drop of 0.4 percentage point in comparison to February.
