Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 August 2018

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 August 2018 amounted to 448,578. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 1,814 persons or 0.40%.
Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 705 persons (0.21%), but decreased in Republika Srpska by 2,401 persons (2.26%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 118 persons (1.14%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 August 2018 by educational level was as follows:
121,839 unskilled workers (27.16%),
7,453 semi-skilled workers (1.66%),
143,367 skilled workers (31.96%),
2,025 highly skilled workers (0.45%),
1,096 workers with primary education (0.24%),
125,583 persons with secondary education (28.00%),
6,897 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.54%) and
40,318 persons with university education (8.99%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (31.96%) and workers with secondary education (28.00%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in August amounted to 17,780 persons, out of which 10,176 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 9,664 persons whose employment terminated and 4,284 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 805,715 in July 2018, out of which 341,407 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment remained unchanged from June 2018, whilst the number of women in paid employment decreased by 0.2%.
The registered unemployment rate in July 2018 was 35.9%. Compared to June 2018, it increased by 0.2% percentage points.
