Overview of Labour Market Situation On 31 December 2012

On 31 December 2012 550,574 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 2,777 persons or 0.51%.
Unemployment was increased in the Federation of BiH by 1,829 persons (0.48%), in the Republika Srpska by 878 persons (0.57%) and in Brčko District BiH by 70 persons (0.57%)
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 December 2012 there were 160,390 unskilled workers or 29.13%, 11,204 semi-skilled workers or 2.04%, 190,998 skilled workers or 34.69%, 3,685 highly skilled workers or 0.67%, 1,851 workers with primary education or 0.34%, 140,478 with secondary education or 25.51%, 7,561 with higher non-university education or 1.37% and 34,407 with university education or 6.25%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.69% and unskilled workers with 29.13%.
The total outflow from PES registers in December amounted to 11,283 persons, out of which 5,731 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 7,236 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,068 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in November 2012 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 686,681 persons, out of which 280,659 were women. As compared to October 2012, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.1%.
Registered unemployment rate in November 2012 was 44.4%. As compared to October 2012 it was increased by 0.1 percentage points.
