Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 December 2018

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 December 2018 amounted to 435,266. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 92 persons or 0.02%.
Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 1,244 persons (0.38%), but decreased in Republika Srpska by 1,188 persons (1.21%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 148 persons (1.56%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 december 2018 by educational level was as follows:
119,002 unskilled workers (27.34%),
7,175 semi-skilled workers (1.65%),
139,531 skilled workers (32.06%),
1,887 highly skilled workers (0.43%),
1,028 workers with primary education (0.24%),
123,157 persons with secondary education (28.29%),
6,651 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.53%) and
36,835 persons with university education (8.46%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.06%) and workers with secondary education (28.29%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in December amounted to 14,695 persons, out of which 8,505 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 9,161 persons whose employment terminated and 3,587 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 822,446 in November 2018, out of which 347,924 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.2% from October 2018.
Registered unemployment rate in November 2018 was 34.8% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to October 2018.
