Labour market overview, situation as of 31 January 2022

The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 January 2022 was 377 126. As compared to a month earlier, this number was higher by 1 322 persons or 0.35%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 216 948 or 57.53% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 37 901 persons or 9.13%.
Unemployment decreased in the Brčko District of BiH by 74 (1.21%), but increased in Federation of BiH by 583 persons (0.18%) and in Republika Srpska by 858 persons (1.23%).
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 January 2022:
102 034 unskilled workers or 27.06%, of whom 59 662 (27.50%) women;
6 055 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.61%, of whom 3 068 (1.41%) women;
118 999 skilled workers or 31.55%, of whom 56 147 (25,88%) women;
1 215 highly skilled workers or 0.32%, of whom 222 (0.10%) women;
107 972 with secondary education or 28.63%, of whom 69 201 (31.90%) women;
6 634 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.76%, of whom 4 356 (2.01%) women;
34 217 with university degree or 9.07%, of whom 24 292 (11.20%) women.
A total of 16 524 people were deregistered from public employment services in January, of whom 7 806 were women. Out of this number, there were 7 333 flows into employment, of which 3 865 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 10 323 people, of whom 4 821 were women. In the same period, employers reported 3 279 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in December 2021 stood at 834 796, of whom 366 063 were women. In comparison to November 2021, the number of people in employment was same and the number of employed women increased by 0.1%.
Registered unemployment rate for December 2021 was 31.0% and was 0.2 percentage point lower than in November 2021.
