Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 July 2018

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 July 2018 amounted to 450,392. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 2,321 persons or 0.52%.
Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 2,963 persons (0.90%), but decreased in Republika Srpska by 611 persons (0.57%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 31 persons (0.30%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 July 2018 by educational level was as follows:
122,841 unskilled workers (27.27%),
7,528 semi-skilled workers (1.67%),
144,378 skilled workers (32.06%),
2,056 highly skilled workers (0.46%),
1,114 workers with primary education (0.25%),
126,436 persons with secondary education (28.07%),
6,721 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.49%) and
39,318 persons with university education (8.73%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.06%) and workers with secondary education (28.07%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in July amounted to 17,546 persons, out of which 11,066 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 9,247 persons whose employment terminated and 4,015 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 806,031 in June 2018, out of which 342,169 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.4% from May 2018.
Registered unemployment rate in June 2018 was 35.7% which is a drop of 0.2 percentage point in comparison to May 2018.
