Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 May 2016

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 May 2016 amounted to 518,857. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 5,204 persons or 0.99%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 4,548 persons (1.20%) in Republika Srpska by 548 persons (0.41%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 108 persons (0.93%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 May 2016 by educational level was as follows:
140,527 unskilled workers (27.08%),
9,094 semi-skilled workers (1.75%),
174,034 skilled workers (33.54%),
2,737 highly skilled workers (0.53%),
1,431 workers with primary education (0.28%),
142,313 persons with secondary education (27.43%),
7,294 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.41%) and
41,427 persons with university education (7.98%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.54%) and workers with secondary education (27.43%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in May amounted to 16,912 persons, out of which 10,869 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 5,849 persons whose employment terminated and 5,246 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 724,208 in April 2016, out of which 299,915 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.4% from March 2016.
Registered unemployment rate in April 2016 was 42.0% which is a drop of 0.4 percentage point in comparison to March 2016.
