Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 May 2018

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 May 2018 amounted to 450,067. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 8,288 persons or 1.81%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 5,608 persons (1.66%) in Republika Srpska by 2,491 persons (2.25%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 189 persons (1.78%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 May 2018 by educational level was as follows:
125,163 unskilled workers (27.81%),
7,679 semi-skilled workers (1.71%),
145,985 skilled workers (32.44%),
2,091 highly skilled workers (0.46%),
1,141 workers with primary education (0.25%),
124,755 persons with secondary education (27.72%),
6,561 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.46%) and
36,692 persons with university education (8.15%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.44%) and unskilled workers (27.81%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in May amounted to 20,897 persons, out of which 14,571 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 6,506 persons whose employment terminated and 6,133 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 795,987 in April 2018, out of which 337,406 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.2% from March 2018.
Registered unemployment rate in April 2018 was 36.5% which is a drop of 0.5 percentage point in comparison to March 2018.
