Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 March 2019

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 March 2019 amounted to 423,419. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 6,634 persons or 1.54%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 4,648 persons (1.43%), in Republika Srpska by 1,680 persons (1.77%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 306 persons (3.50%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 March 2019 by educational level was as follows:
117,036 unskilled workers (27.64%),
7,917 semi-skilled workers and workers with primary education (1.87%),
135,648 skilled workers (32.04%),
1,787 highly skilled workers (0.42%),
119,267 persons with secondary education (28.17%),
6,452 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.52%) and
35,312 persons with university education (8.34%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.04%) and workers with secondary education (28.17%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in March amounted to 19,964 persons, out of which 13,002 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 7,697 persons whose employment terminated and 4,985 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 819,410 in February 2019, out of which 351,830 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was decreased by 0.5% from January 2019.
Registered unemployment rate in February 2019 was 34.4% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to January 2019.
