Overview of Labour Market Situation On 31 March 2014

On 31 March 2014 552,452 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 4,440 persons or 0.80%.
Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 2,512 persons (0.64%) in Republika Srpska by 1,789 persons (1.19%) and Brčko District BiH by 139 persons (1.11%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 March 2014 there were 154,027 unskilled workers or 27.88%, 10,610 semi-skilled workers or 1.92%, 191,073 skilled workers or 34.59%, 3,493 highly skilled workers or 0.63%, 1,644 workers with primary education or 0.30%, 144,505 with secondary education or 26.16%, 7,765 with higher non-university education or 1.41% and 39,335 with university education or 7.12%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.59% and unskilled workers with 27.88%.
The total outflow from PES registers in March amounted to 14,896 persons, out of which 8,383 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 5,440 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,999 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in February 2014 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 693,416 persons, out of which 286,752 were women. As compared to January 2014, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.3%.
Registered unemployment rate in February 2014 was 44,5%. As compared to January 2014 it was down by 0.1 percentage points.
