The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 March 2016 amounted to 530 370.  Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 6 314 persons or 1.18%.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 5 727 persons (1.47%) in Republika Srpska by 366 persons (0.27%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 221 persons (1.84%).

The structure of job seekers as of 31 March 2016 by educational level was as follows:

141 894 unskilled workers (26.60%),

9 289 semi-skilled workers (1.80%),

178 996 skilled workers (33.80%),

2 808 highly skilled workers (0.50%),

1 453 workers with primary education (0.30%),

146 091 persons with secondary education (27.60%),

7 475 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.40%) and

42 364 persons with university education (8.0%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.80%) and workers with secondary education (27.60%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in March amounted to 19 724 persons, out of which 13 329 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 6 231 persons whose employment terminated and 6 140 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 718 281 in February 2016, out of which 297 849 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities remained unchanged from January 2016.

Registered unemployment rate in February 2016 was 42.8% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to January 2016.
