The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 March 2018 amounted to 466,330. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 6,627 persons or 1.40%.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 5,432 persons (1.56%) in Republika Srpska by 1,096 persons (0.97%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 99 persons (0.91%).

The structure of job seekers as of 31 March 2018 by educational level was as follows:

127,818 unskilled workers (27.41%),

7,882 semi-skilled workers (1.69%),

152,344 skilled workers (32.67%),

2,158 highly skilled workers (0.46%),

1,176 workers with primary education (0.25%),

130,067 persons with secondary education (27.89%),

6,791 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.46%) and

38,094 persons with university education (8.17%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.67%) and workers with secondary education (27.89%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in March amounted to 19,834 persons, out of which 12,512 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 7,285 persons whose employment terminated and 5,677 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 791,397 in February 2018, out of which 334,625 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.1% from January 2018.

Registered unemployment rate in February 2018 was 37.4% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to January 2018.
