The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 March 2022 was 371 982. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 3 707 persons or 0.99%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 213 936 or 57.51% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 34 736 persons or 8.54%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 2 703 persons (0.91%), in Republika Srpska by 806 persons (1.12%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 198 (3.39%).

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 March 2022:

101 615 unskilled workers or 27.32%, of whom 59 475 (27.80%) women;

5 960 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.60%, of whom 3 032 (1.42%) women;

117 535 skilled workers or 31.60%, of whom 55 529 (25,96%) women;

1 173 highly skilled workers or 0.32%, of whom 212 (0.10%) women;

106 449 with secondary education or 28.62%, of whom 68 303 (31.93%) women;

6 396 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.72%, of whom 4 174 (1.95%) women;

32 854 with university degree or 8.83%, of whom 23 211 (10.85%) women.

A total of 20 894 people were deregistered from public employment services in March, of whom 9 563 were women. Out of this number, there were 10 506 flows into employment, of which 5 252 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 9 519 people, of whom 4 460 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 3 900 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in February 2022 stood at 839 415, of whom 371 638 were women.  In comparison to January 2022, the number of people in employment was increased by 0.1% and the number of employed women increased by 0.4%.

Registered unemployment rate for February 2022 was 30.9% and was 0.1 percentage point lower than in

January 2022.
