The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 October 2020 was 414 402. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 3 555 persons or 0.85%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 236 120 or 56.98% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was higher by 13 060 persons or 3.25%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 2 094 persons (0.64%), in Republika Srpska by 1 438 persons (1.69%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 23 persons (0.33%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 October 2020:

110 070 unskilled workers or 26.56%, of whom 64 486 (27.31%) women;

6 924 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.67%, of whom 3 514 (1.49%) women;

131 260 skilled workers or 31.67%, of whom 61 083 (25.87%) women;

1 516 highly skilled workers or 0.37%, of whom 274 (0.12%) women;

120 695 with secondary education or 29.13%, of whom 77 340 (32.33%) women;

6 908 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.67%, of whom 4 451 (1.89%) women;

37 029 with university degree or 8.94%, of whom 25 972 (11.0%) women.

A total of 19 343 people were deregistered from public employment services in October, of whom 9 833 were women. Out of this number, there were 11 514 flows into employment, of which 5 855 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 6 217 people, of whom 2 845 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 3 897 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in September 2020 stood at 806 350, of whom 347 215 were women.  In comparison to August 2020, the number of people in employment increased by 0.9% and the number of employed women increased by 1.5%.

Registered unemployment rate for September 2020 was 34.1% and was 0.7 percentage point lower than in August 2020.
