Overview of Labour Market Situation On 31 January 2013

On 31 January 2013 554,640 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 4,066 persons or 0.74%.
Unemployment was increased in the Federation of BiH by 2,478 persons (0.64%) and in the Republika Srpska by 1,697 persons (1.11%). Unemployment was down in Brčko District BiH by 109 persons (0.89%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 January 2013 there were 161,211 unskilled workers or 29.07%, 11,265 semi-skilled workers or 2.03%, 192,799 skilled workers or 34.76%, 3,751 highly skilled workers or 0.68%, 1,849 workers with primary education or 0.33%, 141,298 with secondary education or 25.48%, 7,676 with higher non-university education or 1.38% and 34,792 with university education or 6.27%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.76% and unskilled workers with 29.07%.
The total outflow from PES registers in January amounted to 11,683 persons, out of which 6,056 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 7,890 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 1,992 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in December 2012 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 685,117 persons, out of which 280,833 were women. As compared to November 2012, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.2%.
Registered unemployment rate in December 2012 was 44.5%. As compared to November 2012 it was increased by 0.1 percentage points.
