Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 July 2019

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 July 2019 amounted to 407,109. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 1,633 persons or 0.40%.
Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 1,742 persons (0.56%), but decreased in Republika Srpska by 10 persons (0.01%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 99 persons (1.29%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 July 2019 by educational level was as follows:
112,317 unskilled workers (27.59%),
7,474 semi-skilled workers (1.84%),
128,457 skilled workers (31.55%),
1,657 highly skilled workers (0.41%),
114,781 persons with secondary education (28.19%),
6,538 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.61%) and
35,885 persons with university education (8.81%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (31.55%) and workers with secondary education (28.19%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in July amounted to 18,485 persons, out of which 11,387 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 11,946 persons whose employment terminated and 5.798 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 821,124 in June 2019, out of which 352,447 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.2% from May 2018.
Registered unemployment rate in June 2019 was 33.1% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to May 2019.
