Labour market overview, situation as of 31 July 2022

The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 July 2022 was 361 774. As compared to a month earlier, this number was higher by 2 167 persons or 0.6%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 209 754 or 57.98% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 33 609 persons or 8.68%.
Unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 966 persons (1.44%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 111 (2.06%), but increased in Federation of BiH by 3 244 persons (1.13%).
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 July 2022:
98 983 unskilled workers or 27.36%, of whom 58 340 (27.81%) women;
5 649 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.56%, of whom 2 871 (1.37%) women;
113 697 skilled workers or 31.43%, of whom 53 709 (25,61%) women;
1 124 highly skilled workers or 0.31%, of whom 214 (0.10%) women;
103 081 with secondary education or 28.49%, of whom 66 580 (31.74%) women;
6 195 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.71%, of whom 4 146 (1.98%) women;
33 045 with university degree or 9.13%, of whom 23 894 (11.39 %) women.
A total of 18 349 people were deregistered from public employment services in July, of whom 8 663 were women. Out of this number, there were 8 759 flows into employment, of which 4 492 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 10 539 people, of whom 5 958 were women. In the same period, employers reported 4 934 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in June 2022 stood at 839 531, of whom 372 522 were women. In comparison to May 2022, the number of people in employment was increased by 0.3% and the number of employed women increased by 0.4%.
Registered unemployment rate for June 2022 was 30.0% and was 0.1 percentage point lower than in
May2022.
