The Labour and Employment Agency of BiH held a press conference today to present the results of its work undertaken during 2015 and the first two months of this year.  The press representatives were addressed by Muamer Bandić, Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH, and Željko Tepavčević, Deputy Director.

The Director Bandić stressed that the trend of labour market recovery continued in 2015 which was manifested in a decrease in registered unemployment, an increase in the number of outflows from unemployment registers due to employment, an increase in the number of vacancies notified by employers to employment services and a decrease in the number of cash benefit recipients.   As pointed out by the Director Bandić, the number of unemployed persons in 2015 was by 1.4% lower in comparison to 2014.  He said that a particularly pleasing fact was that 2016 had also started with a downward trend in unemployment which was, inter alia, also due to the international employment programmes of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH.

In 2015 the Labour and Employment Agency mediated in employment of 2 677 persons in Slovenia and in the first two months of 2016 this number amounted to 513.  In the previous year the Labour and Employment Agency also mediated in employment of 870 persons in Germany and in the first two months of 2016 this number stood at 228.

Željko Tepavčević, Deputy Director, stressed that the downward trend in unemployment continued in 2016 and that according to the data as of 29 February 2016 the number of unemployed persons was down by 13 411 persons or 2.44% in comparison to the same period in 2015.
