Job Fair Attracted 2,000 Unemployed Persons

Representatives of the Labour and Employment Agency informed visitors about working abroad
Employment Service of the Zenica-Doboj Canton organized in co-operation with the Federal Employment Service the 'Job Fair 2011' in framework of supporting programme to the 18th General BiH Fair ZEPS 2011 which was attended by the delegation of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Job Fair was held on 07 October 2011 in Zenica. The round table on the topic of ‘Employment Situation in the Zenica-Doboj Canton’ was held one day before.
During the round table, a representative of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a presentation on ‘Employment and Social Insurance Agreements and Labour Mobility’ when the attendees were introduced to the mobility and migration issues and positive aspects of migratory flows. Participants were also introduced to specific examples of co-operation between the Labour and Employment Agency and Employment Services of the Republic of Slovenia, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Montenegro and Serbia.
‘Employment Fair 2011’ gathered around 50 employers from the territory of the Zenica-Doboj Canton who had announced around 1,000 job vacancies. Participation in the Fair was an opportunity for all jobseekers to make direct contact with employers. Workshops aimed at improving job-seeking skills were also held in framework of the Fair. Response of the unemployed was tremendous with around 2,000 persons visiting the Fair.
Besides the delegation of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Director of the Federal Employment Service, the Fair was attended by Directors of all cantonal employment services and representatives of municipal authorities, cantonal ministries of labour, education, economy, as well as representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Regional Development Agency and Association of Employers of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
It was concluded that organization of job fairs enables a quality immediate communication between employers and job seekers and that such practice should be continued in the forthcoming period.
