Russian Federation interested in hiring workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina

Mr. Adnan Delić, Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Mr. Željko Rajić, Deputy Director, held a working meeting today with His Excellency Aleksandr Botsan-Kharachenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The topic of the meeting was the Agreement initiated between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Russian Federation on employment of BiH citizens in the Russian Federation and citizens of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Kharachenko gave his full support to the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in further implementation of activities related to the rights of workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. He also informed the representatives of the Agency that the Russian Federation was interested in hiring workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina for infrastructure projects in Russia. Ambassador Kharachenko particularly emphasized the construction projects related to the forthcoming Olympic Games in Sochi and building of infrastructure in the Caucasus given that workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina have a great experience in infrastructure construction in similar geographic conditions. Employment of citizens of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also on the agenda. It was pointed out that a large number of Russian nationals have come to work in Bosnia and Herzegovina in oil industry and that this aspect of cooperation was of common interest to both countries.
In conclusion, the attendants talked about the need for providing social security to workers in both countries. It was concluded that an agreement on social insurance between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Russian Federation should be initiated which would entitle workers from both countries to unemployment compensation in accordance with relevant insurance periods.
