Desiring to strengthen the cooperation and exchange experience in the field of employment, a delegation of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by Ivan Barbalić, Director, Neven Akšamija, Assistant Director, Sininša Veselinović, Head of Department for Domestic Labour Market, and Alma Spahi, Head of Department of International Cooperation, visited the National Employment Service of the Republic of Serbia where they were welcomed by Director Zoran Martinović and Aleksandar Bogdanović, Head of Division for Unemployment Insurance and Legal Affairs and staff members.

As assessed by the two delegations, this visit was a step forward towards improving the mutual cooperation in the field of labour and employment. During the joint meeting, the delegation of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH had the opportunity to learn about the work and activities of the National Employment Service and exchange experience and best practice in the labour market management and workforce employment and training.   As highlighted on that occasion, through interconnection and cooperation, both countries can identify common challenges and find more efficient solutions to enhance employment and boost economic activity.

The Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina continue their fruitful cooperation through the implementation of the Interstate Agreement on Temporary Employment of the Citizens of the Republic of Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Republic of Serbia that covers several key areas, such as unemployment, temporary employment and exchange of experience and cooperation in common projects related to employment and labour market.

An important part of the cooperation is the Agreement on Social Insurance that offers fundamental rights and protection to people who are or used to be employed in both countries. The Agreement ensures correct treatment with respect to social insurance, including the cases of unemployment, which contributes to better security and protection of workers in both countries. “With such cooperation in place, we can identify best practices and more efficient solutions to address the labour market challenges, which contributes to a better human resource management and economic development of the region”, were the words said in the meeting.
